The Slniečko Pension is the perfect starting point for trips to the local natural amenities. The woods surrounding Duchonka offer pleasant walks or cycling trips along the marked cycling routes. The woods are also a rich location for mushroom and forest fruit hunting. The most popular cycling route goes from Kulháň through Duchonka to the Železnica creek valley. This is a moderate, well-marked cycling route with prevailingly mild climbing leading through the forest nature trail and the valley of the former forest railway of Baron Stummer from 1913. The route is mostly shaded by trees and is also suitable for children. For more advanced cyclist, there is a blue circuit connecting the 3 nearby dams: Duchonka, Nemečky and Tesáre, also including the visit to the Topoľčianky Castle.

Tips for trips

If you get bored of lounging at the pool in the Slniečko Pension, we have a few tips for you to make trips around the region. The water sport lovers can enjoy boating or water cycling on the Duchonka dam. You can make a walking tour to the Topoľčany castle ruin along the tourist route. For families with children we recommend the walk along the nature trail to Kulháň, where you can enjoy the local speciality, smoked-roasted trout or even catch your own fish. Kids will definitely enjoy the visit to the nearby village of Bojná, where you can see the miniature zoo at the Ranč pod Babicou as well as the Great Moravia Archaeological Museum. You can continue with the trips to Topoľčianky, Bojnice or Piešťany.

All you need to do is choose the destination and set off to explore the surrounding beauties.

Fishing leisure and relax

After the Duchonka dam being stocked with fish, there are excellent fishing conditions. It only takes a 5 minute walk from the Slniečko Pension to reach the water dam. Don't forget to get your fishing permission at the local SRZ Organisation Topoľčany! The grassy and sandy beaches of Duchonka are well equipped with swings, outdoor table tennis, volleyball court and other sports and play grounds for kids and adults alike.  In the summer season, you can get refreshments in the local snack bars.

During summer weekend nights, you can enjoy the night life in the local legendary venues such as Hrádza or Malá Breza. The summer festivals are also attracting more and more visitors to Duchonka every year.
